Shared Roster Groups, Virtual Hosts and RegEx

Hello.

I'm working on a solution for four different virtual hosts. Behind every virtual host is a bot as moderator which each has his own shared roster group - (i.e.:Moderator_some.example1.de, Moderator_some.example2.de,...). On the other side there are Visitor Groups for each virtual host - (i.e.: Visitors_some.example1.de, Visitors_some.example2.de,...).

crashing ejbberd

Hi,

I have installed ejabberd-17.08.23 by compiling sourcecode. Yesterday I was able to launch successfully after installation(config is not changed so its pointing to localhost and I have tested this using profanity) but today when I try to launch same, ejabberd is not coming up and crash report was showing as below.

Can anyone give pointers how to resolve this? Thanks a lot for your help.

Solved: Unable to Register Users Remotely

I'm running ejabberd 17.07 on Debian 9. I am using PostgresSQL as the DBMS. In order to initialize the database, I used /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/ejabberd-17.07/priv/sql/lite.sql as a baseline. I made a copy called "plite.sql" and edited the MySQL syntax so that it fit with PostgresSQL syntax. I removed "INTEGER PRIMARY KEY AUTOINCREMENT" (which is not supported by psql) and exchanged it for "SERIAL PRIMARY KEY" as well as removed the "UNSIGNED" qualifier from the timestamp columns. Once I did this, I was able to initialize the database.

Getting no response from server

I'm having a problem with a new ejabber installation.

Within our local subnets (192.168.x.x) I am able to connect to the ejabber host with both Pidgin on my Linux desktop and using AstraChat on my cell phone on our companies internal wireless network.

When I switch the phone's wireless off and use the carrier's connection, I can't get a response from the host.

I've done port forwarding on the firewall and have run tcpdump on the server. I can see the packets from the outside reach the server but the server never replies.

Good day,

I configured my new ejabberd server, but when I start him the follow message appears in the log:

01:49:57.553 [warning] CA directory /etc/ssl/certs doesn't contain hashed certificate files; configuring 'ca_path' option might help
01:49:57.604 [warning] certificate from /etc/ejabberd/ejabberd.pem is invalid: certificate is signed by unknown CA

The second problem is, that I cant open a s2s connection, when the server try to connect to other servers, the following error appears:

mod_muc: Disable moderator permissions for room creators

$

Hello,

My server uses anonymous authentication, and anyone is allowed to create a (non-persistent) room. I would like to disable moderator permissions for MUC room creators, so they can't kick/ban others. Essentially, everyone in the room should have the same limited permissions, no matter who created it.

How can I configure ejabberd to do this?

Auto subscribe publishers

Hi,

In XEP-0060 this is metioned:

A service MUST allow owners and publishers to subscribe to a node, and to retrieve items from a node even if they are not subscribed. A service MAY auto-subscribe owners and publishers if they are not already subscribed,

How do I enable this auto subscribe to publishers in ejabberd? I want to keep the subscription access as authorize but owners and publishers are automatically subscribed. Others need to be authorized.

Is this implemented in ejabberd?

Way to use internal DB for user list, but PAM for passwords?

Hey there all,

Here at $dayjob we'd like to make it so that your jabber password is one fewer to remember, and instead use your Kerberos password.

However, we still want to have control of the user list be via the ejabberd web UI (as we may have users such as consultants who have a valid pam login, but not want them to use jabber).

We don't do LDAP of any sort -- most of our management is static, but only our ops group have accounts on our jabber machine.

Thinks is started but "nodedown"

I just installed ejabberd (community server 17.09) to a windows machine (win 7) and cant seem to get it to work.

I look at my services and I see it running (ejabberd01... ), which started automatically, but I don't see "epmd" or "beam" in the processes.

When I run "bin\ejabberdctl status" I get
"Failed RPC connection to the node ejbberd@localhost: nodedown"

When I run "bin\ejabberdctl start" I get
"Error: the ejabberd node ejabberd@localhost is registered and should be running."

Single shared pubsub for multiple domains, but with PEP support

$

I have been using a setup where multiple virtual hosts use the same pubsub module:

host_config:
  "a.example.com":
    modules:
      mod_pubsub:
        host: pubsub.a.example.com
        ...
  "b.example.com":
    modules:
      mod_disco:
        extra_domains:
        - "pubsub.b.example.com"
        ...

Then, users from both virtual hosts see the the same pubsub service. So far, so good.

However, users on host b.example.com will not have PEP activated, so there is no OMEMO (and much more) for them.

Crash for "Failed TCP accept: too many open files"

$

I have installed ejabberd 17.06 over Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 7.3 (Maipo) with 20GB of HDD and 4GB of RAM
This ejabberd is only used for around 20 users now.

I have a problem. The process "/opt/ejabberd-17.06/bin/beam.smp -K true -P 250000........" has around 80 open files when it starts. If one user log in Jabber, open files increased at 1, and if one user log out, open files decreased at 1. This is normal.

The problem is that anything at server is increasing the open files for the beam.smp process, apart of the login/logout from users.
